Alice Webb-Wilson
Veterinary Surgeon

I am affectionately known as "Brown Owl" at Willett House and graduated from the RVC (London) in 2010, winning the Frank Townend Barton prize for the best elective research project. After graduation I spent a year at the University of Bristol working as an Intern. The majority of my time was spent treating critical patients within the ICU and helping with referral cases, both in medicine and surgery. The internship provided me with fantastic experience of more diverse cases which has helped me immensely in general practice. I then moved to Sussex and spent two years in a small animal hospital, moving to Willett House in October 2013 to further develop my surgical skills. I work predominantly at Staines and I have recently completed a postgraduate qualification in surgery (BSAVA PGCert SAS) and along with Aaron perform laparascopic (keyhole) spays. I am married to Thomas who works in the Arts - we got married in May 2017! Outside of work I play golf, watch rugby (living in Twickenham means it is hard not to miss it) and go running. I completed the Paris marathon in 2014 and someday I might consider trying to get into London.

I have a little ginger cat called Percy who I got just after graduation and he has helped other patients by donating his valuable type B blood on occasion. My parents have three cats, Fred who will be sixteen this year and Ruby and Alfie. They were born via caesarean at my previous practice and so I have known them since birth!

During my internship I took part in clinical rounds, medicine and surgical journal clubs with residents and specialists. I also presented an abstract at a Veterinary conference in 2013 as a result of research done during my university education.

Over the past three years I have been studying for a Certificate in Surgery, covering soft tissue, orthopaedic and key hole surgeries. This has amounted to about 400 hours of CPD and I will shortly be applying for Advanced Practitioner status.

Other courses I have done:

• Echocardiography (heart scanning)

•Canine and Feline Diabetes

•MMP (cruciate repair) practical course

•Fracture fixation
